just a comment on school vouchers... They may have the best of intentions, but they are a band-aid on a gaping wound. Vouchers have individual student concerns in consideration but these vouchers make it all to easy for government to ignore the major problems like under paid teachers, lacking facilities, over populated classrooms and implementation of too many experimental programs with no follow through. Having worked in the DC public school system and various after school programs around DC I recognize that there are more problems than answers right now. The amount of injustice and stress that these kids go through on a daily basis outside of school seems enough but add on the crap they have to deal with in and underfunded yoyo of a school, and it's enough to break your heart.
